You can perform your own Qigong practice with this hour-long video of Jan Tucker’s weekly online Qigong Movements & Meditation class for better health and vitality. By watching, listening, and following her instructions, you will learn to perform the 5 elements Qigong practice during the first 38 minutes of the video. Jan, a Spring Forest Certified Qigong Healer/Trainer and level 5 practitioner, trained by International Master Chunyi Lin, walks you through the 5 elements Qigong practice plus a 20-minute meditation to promote healthy sleep.

This video explains what Qigong is and how it works while you practice the warmup movements. It also explains the purpose of the warmup movements and the 5 elements movements—what they are doing for your body. All Qigong movements have been developed to heal specific body organ systems. Practicing them regularly gets you healthy and keeps you healthy by ensuring a smooth flow of energy through your body’s 12 major energy channels plus all the others, and the hundreds of associated energy points.

During the meditation, Jan teaches you to add your own healing message to your drinking water. Before beginning the healing, place some water within your reach in either a glass or a pitcher. You can keep the water in the sealed pitcher to drink during the week. She explains how to drink the water to get the most benefit. If you keep it refrigerated, you should always warm it to room temperature before drinking. Cold water cools your internal organs, reducing their function. It’s especially harmful to proper digestion.

The origin of the 5-element Qigong practice you will learn

by Jan Tucker

Due to the traditions, practices, and culture of Chinese Qigong masters, different Qigong masters teach different movements. They do not share their teachings with each other, and many still keep their practices secret. Even their students are not permitted to share or reveal what they were taught. There are still many languages in China, some as different as English is from Russian. These are the reasons you will find that one 5-elements movement series differs from the next. And this is why it is so precious to receive instruction in Qigong from a Qigong practitioner, teacher, healer, or master.

My Qigong Master Chunyi Lin, who developed the 5-elements movement practice I share in this video, lived in China as a child, suffering great atrocities throughout China’s so-called 10-year Cultural Revolution and beyond. He and his family of origin were considered “bad people” because they thought his father was the son of a landlord (even though this was untrue). The Cultural Revolution ended in 1976 but Qigong still was not sanctioned by Communist Chairman Mao (Mao Zedong), who was responsible for the atrocities.

Early in high school, Chunyi Lin practiced Qigong, Kung Fu, and Tai Chi with a master who agreed to teach him in secret. This was very dangerous as both of them could have been killed had they been discovered.

Master Lin discovered the true power of Qigong when he attended a workshop on a soccer field with 15,000 others, to heal the unbearable pain in his knees from injuries that had turned into arthritis. He was unable to walk without having his legs suddenly fail him. He was also very depressed because of the life conditions that had been forced on him. The Qigong master of the Buddhist Shaolin Temple, a legendary temple that teaches Kung Fu and Qigong to this day, presided over the workshop. At the end of the workshop, which ran from noon to 7:30 p.m. in one day, Master Lin was completely healed.

After high school, Chunyi Lin’s life trials continued. He was forced by the government to work like a slave for 16-hours-a-day as a farmer in the country on land with no water. To avoid starvation, Master Lin had to catch and sell three or four poisonous snakes a month for the manufacture of medicine. He suffered many diseases and injuries during this time. He explains in his autobiography that herbal medicine, acupuncture, Qigong, and the poisonous snakes he sold for food are what kept him alive.

In 1976, Mao Zedong died and the Gang of Four, who are all now dead, was purged from power by Mao’s successor, Hua Guofeng. They were Mao’s wife, Jiang Qing, and her associates Wang Hongwen, Yao Wenyuan, and Zhang Chunqiao. A few years later Deng Xiaoping began to make huge economic reforms in China.

At that point, China was able to modernize and Master Lin, after several other setbacks, was able to begin studying Qigong in the open. He studied with a number of Chinese masters throughout the years, some whose teachings he is not permitted to pass on, and others whose teachings he is free to share. Throughout his training, he always felt that Qigong is much simpler than it is made to be, and can be even more powerful.

In 1992, Master Lin came to the US for the first time for one year. Master Lin is fluent in five Chinese languages. He was sent to observe the school system in the US, and he taught Chinese and Chinese culture in a Minnesota high school and Tai Chi at night. Soon he began to teach his specialty, Qigong, at a local college at night. Returning home to China, he was the Dean of the English department at his college. Qigong has always been his first love and his life purpose. He was awarded certification as an International Chinese Master in 1994 by his master at the time, Master Zhang of Qing Cheng Mountain.

In 1995 Master Lin returned to the US and founded Spring Forest Qigong based on his vision that everyone is born a healer. For the past two decades, he has worked toward the goal of having a healer in every home and a world without pain and suffering. To date, he has taught Qigong to hundreds of thousands of people who use it to heal themselves and others. Technically, as healers, we are helping to remove energy blockages that are making people ill and causing pain. We are helping their bodies to get in condition to heal themselves.

I hope you will enjoy the 5-element Qigong practice in my video. May it place you on a path to better health and peak performance.

NOTES: This video was recorded using Zoom.us (an online webinar software) and a webcam. Jan’s face is slightly out of focus during some of the movements but you will be able to both see the movements and hear her instructions clearly.
